Scheduler-Chula Vista

Position Summary:

Schedule imaging examinations and procedures for the Imaging Center; working effectively with physicians, physician office staff and patients to ensure accurate, prompt and courteous scheduling of appointments.  Answer, direct and handle incoming telephone phone calls to the Imaging Center.  Confirm insurance eligibility and authorizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming operator and scheduling telephone calls for the imaging center, assuring timely and effective use of the telephone system to ensure prompt responses. Accurately transfer phone calls to appropriate staff members, departments and physicians, as needed.
  • Register and schedule exams and procedures by entering accurate and complete patient and examination/procedure information into computerized scheduling and registration systems.
  • Communicate accurate and pertinent information regarding procedure, including exam preparations to patients.
  • Screen patients accurately and completely for contraindications and specific information related to examinations and procedures (e.g. mammography questionnaire, CT with contrast screening, MRI contraindications and MRI contrast screening, etc.).
  • Utilize and keep current online and computerized faxed order system to organize patient referrals. Proactively contact patients to schedule exams and procedures for orders received.
  • Communicate with technical staff and/or physicians in an expeditious manner regarding any add-on exams and procedures, questions or clarifications about an exam to be scheduled or about a patient’s medical condition.
  • Print and supply schedules to all appropriate staff members and physicians at appropriate times, as needed.
  • Confirm and coordinate patients’ insurance eligibility, authorization or notification for imaging examinations and procedures as needed.
  • Review exam room schedules for following days(s) for complete and accurate orders and other required documentation. Contact referring physician offices for outstanding, missing, or incomplete information necessary for patient services.
  • Comply with SDI’s compliance, privacy, safety and personnel policies.

Per Diem Technologist Assistant-Chula Vista

Position Summary:

Provides general assistance and directs flow for patients, radiologists and technologists. Brings patients from lobby to scanning areas, provides pre- and post procedure screening and explanation to patient and family (if applicable), assists technologists with positioning patient for exams and procedures, reviews and assists with the verification of exam orders and orders in RIS, PACS, etc. For MRI department: safely transports patients to and from Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center to the MRI department and back.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Retrieves and escorts patients from the lobby, and/or safely transports patients from the hospital, to the scanning areas. Verifies patient identification by asking patient, or family member if applicable, complete name, date of birth, reason for examination/procedure and area to be examined. For patients from the hospital, also verifies information on the patient’s identification bracelet.
  • Provides pre / post procedure screening, education and reassurance to patients including but not limited to: screening the patient for safety and medical needs prior to examination, explaining the procedure and the expected length of the exam/procedure, assistant with positioning the patient, etc.
  • Practices sterile and isolation techniques resulting in the prevention of cross-contamination and infection.
  • Assists technologists with the verification of orders for future scheduled exams. Follows-up on orders missing, incomplete or those with any questions.
  • Assists radiologists with various communications with referring physicians and their staff, coordinates the communications of “Wet Readings” and significant findings, and manages incoming calls for the radiologists.
  • Processes requests for images and reports. Prints films and/or CDs when necessary. Manages film retrieval and imaging requests for comparison purposes.
  • Interacts and communicates in a manner to reflect an understanding of the patient’s age, culture, state of health, and level of comprehension.
  • Maintains efficient and timely patient flow, attempts to stay on schedule. Communicates any delays or changes in the schedule to appropriate staff, nursing staff for the hospital patients, or the receptionists and/or patients waiting in the lobby for exams.
  • Assists technologists and physicians in preparing for the procedure/exam and clean up between patient exams. Maintains cleanliness and disinfects equipment, supplies and rooms as needed.
  • Stocks supplies and clean linens as needed. Removes soiled linens and places in the proper location as needed.
  • Delivers reports, CDs, laboratory/pathology specimens to various physician offices, laboratories and hospital departments as needed.
  • Maintains a high quality of patient care and communicates in a positive and timely manner with co-workers, physicians, patients, and visitors.

PET/CT and Diagnostic CT Technologist positions  -Escondido

Positions available: Full-Time and Per Diem.

Hours:

Full Time:

  • Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: 11:30am-8:00pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Thursday and Sunday off.

Per Diem: Variable

Position Summary:

Perform PET and Diagnostic CT studies. Under the supervision of the Center Manager performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality images as requested for subsequent interpretation by the radiologist. Also prepares and administers radio-pharmaceuticals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administers radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with state/federal regulations and accreditation agencies.
  • Ascertains correct patient, study and radiopharmaceuticals by checking patient ID, requisitions and radiopharmaceuticals label prior to radiopharmaceutical administration.
  • Administers radiopharmaceuticals according to department protocol using aseptic technique. Performs proper recording of pharmaceuticals.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation. Ensures patients’ safety during and after exam.
  • May assist with scheduling patients as needed.
  • Performs Diagnostic CT including injecting contrast.
  • Performs VNA punctures as necessary and maintains competencies. Performs quality control and quality assurance procedures. Performs daily, weekly, quarterly and annual procedures on the following instrumentation: dose calibrators, scintillation well counter and thyroid probe, scintillation cameras.
  • Identifies, documents and reports sub-optimum results to supervisor.
  • Adheres to Department of Health, TJC, and department regulations governing performance of above procedures.
  • Maintains required record keeping and documentation for all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, transmitting, and printing images via PACS.
  • When applicable, knowledgeable in after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork. Immediately reports any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
  • Performs PET imaging/counting procedures according to department protocols and computer acquisition and analysis.
  • Treat patients, referring physicians and co-workers in a courteous, respectfully and empathic manner at all times.

Patient Account Specialist Follow Up-San Diego

Position Summary: The Patient Account Specialist Follow Up is part of the billing team. They are responsible for the collection of outstanding medical claims from a variety of sources; insurance carriers, IPA’s, patients, research or transplant office and/or other payment sources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively work all accounts assigned to collector queues to maximize collections. This includes but is not limited to; searching for lacking insurance information, rebilling claims to insurance carriers, billing patients, filing appeals, provider disputes, DMHC complaints and calling patients.
  • Maintain the standard productivity levels set by the department
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of CPT and ICD 10-coding systems
  • Medical billing knowledge: HMO, PPO, Workers’ Compensation, Medi-Cal, Medicare).
  • Strong understanding of eligibility requirements and process to obtain required authorization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and Medical Billing Software
  • Ability to keyboard accurately at 40-45 wpm.
  • Assist the Billing department with general duties as directed by the Supervisor. General duties include but are not limited to: data entry, payment entry, phone coverage, document imaging, etc.

Part-Time CT Technologist-Escondido

Position Summary:

Performs examinations utilizing CT (computed tomography) equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data.  Communicate findings to Radiologist as appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates skill in the use of sensitive CT equipment to obtain accurate and meaningful results; obtaining patient’s history and showing correlation of the clinical history with the test performed. Communicates effectively with radiologist(s) to obtain proper CT scanning protocol instructions to follow for patient’s specific medical needs, indication for exam and/or diagnosis.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding and application of radiation safety with regard to patient and staff safety with the use of CT equipment.
  • Screens patient for any contraindications for CT scanning and contrast administration. Obtains and reviews laboratory values for patients receiving IV contrast and communicates any abnormal results with the radiologist(s).
  • Obtains the highest quality images possible, ensuring the anatomical area of interest is captured on images as completely as possible.
  • Use correct and antiseptic techniques to start intravenous lines on patients as needed for the administration of IV Contrast. Administers IV contrast as per the protocol instruction from radiologist and monitors patients for any possible adverse reactions.  Discontinue intravenous lines as needed.
  • Maintains equipment calibration by performing quality control tests according to established procedures and frequency schedule.
  • Demonstrates skills in the proficient use of PACS.
  • Prints film and/or CD of images when necessary.
  • Assists in training new CT Technologist, as directed by the Lead Technologist.

PET/CT and Diagnostic CT Technologist (Full Time)-Chula Vista

Position Summary:

Performs both PET/CT and diagnostic CT examinations utilizing PET / CT scanning equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data.  Communicate findings to Radiologist as appropriate

  • Demonstrates skill in the use of sensitive PET / CT equipment to obtain accurate and meaningful results; obtaining patient’s history and showing correlation of the clinical history with the test performed. Communicates effectively with radiologist(s) to obtain proper PET / CT and diagnostic CT scanning protocol instructions to follow for patient’s specific medical needs, indication for exam and/or diagnosis.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding and application of radiation safety with regard to patient and staff safety with the use of PET / CT equipment.
  • Screens patient for any contraindications for PET / CT and/or CT scanning. Performs/obtains and reviews laboratory values for patients receiving radiopharmaceuticals and IV contrast.  Communicates any abnormal results with the radiologist(s).
  • Under the general supervision of the physician, prepares stock, solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses, and administers doses for PET/CT scanning.
  • Use correct and antiseptic techniques to start intravenous lines on patients as needed for the administration of IV Contrast. Administers IV contrast as per the protocol instruction from radiologist and monitors patients for any possible adverse reactions.  Discontinue intravenous lines as needed.
  • Obtains the highest quality images possible, ensuring the anatomical area of interest is captured on images as completely as possible. Accurately performs reconstruction of images in projections/planes as indicated by protocol or radiologist.
  • Maintains equipment calibration by performing quality control tests according to established procedures and frequency schedule.
  • Follows Radiation Safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.
  • Demonstrates skills in the proficient use of PACS and other applicable software.
  • Prints film and/or CD of images when necessary.
  • Assists in training new PET / CT and/or CT Technologist, as directed by the Lead Technologist and/or Site Manager.
  • Practice sterile and isolation techniques to prevent cross-contamination and infection. Maintains cleanliness and disinfects equipment, supplies and room as needed.

Ultrasound Technologist (Per Diem)-Chula Vista

Position Summary:

Responsible for performing day-to-day activities of the imaging department, including ultrasound related procedures.  Perform a wide variety of technical procedures with quality patient care, assisting Physicians as needed.  Communicate findings to Radiologists as appropriate.

  • Demonstrates skill in the use of sensitive ultrasonography equipment to obtain accurate and meaningful results. Obtain patient’s history and show correlation of the clinical history with the test performed.  Communicates effectively with radiologists the results of ultrasound exams.

  • Practices sterile and isolation techniques resulting in the prevention of cross-contamination and infection. Maintains cleanliness and disinfects equipment, supplies and rooms as needed
  • With the assistance of the radiologists, develop, implement, and communicate ultrasonography techniques with all Ultrasound Technologists.
  • Facilitates referring physicians’ requests.
  • Maintains a high quality of patient care.

Radiologic / Fluoroscopic Technologist -Kearny Mesa

Required Hours:

This will be a temporary part time position Monday thru Wednesday working variable shifts for a total of 24 hours per week. It will be part time for 4-5 months and then afterwards will transition to per-diem.

Position Summary:

Responsible for performing day-to-day activities general radiographic and fluoroscopic related procedures.  Perform a wide variety of technical procedures with quality patient care, assisting Physicians as needed.  Communicate findings to Radiologists as appropriate.

  • Demonstrates skills in the proficient use of radiographic equipment, computer systems related to general radiology, RIS and Obtain the most accurate and meaningful images possible, taking into consideration the referring physician order, patient’s history / current complaint and assures anatomical area of interested is captured on images.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding and application of radiation safety with regards to patient and staff safety with the use of general radiography and fluoroscopy equipment.

Medical Front Desk Receptionist  (Full Time)- Oceanside

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet, check in and register/schedule patients for procedures and exams, accurately obtaining all patient demographics, insurance and billing information, prepare all pertinent paperwork. Ensure paperwork is completed by patient in a thorough manner.
  • Scan documents and attach to patient specific records for the electronic storage and retrieval of the document (e.g. physician order, assignment, patient information forms, insurance ID card, authorization documents, etc.)
  • Answer and administer phone calls.
  • Communicates pertinent information regarding procedure and wait time to patients.
  • Print and supply schedules to all appropriate employees and physicians at appropriate times, if needed.
  • Coordinate authorizations, review patient insurance eligibility, collect co-payments and cash payments as needed.
  • Contact referring physician offices for information necessary for patient services.

Patient Account Specialist-Charge/Data Entry (Full Time)-San Diego

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Data verification and correction of inbound patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Verify that the insurance information received is accurate and complete.
  • Navigate through all web based insurances to verify the patient was eligible at the time of service.
  • Data verification and correction of inbound charge files, hospital and coding company.
  • Audit and maintain “unmatched” charge files, hospital and coding company in a timely fashion.
  • Manual input of charges from unmatched work files.
  • Have assigned charges added to the billing system within 3 days of the dictated report.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer phone calls concerning scheduling and procedures. Effectively use the telephone system to ensure prompt responses.
  • Answer incoming operator phone calls for the imaging center. Accurately transfer phone calls to appropriate staff members and physicians.
  • Communicate pertinent information regarding procedure, including exam preparations to patients.
  • Enter patient and appointment data into computerized scheduling system. Schedule appointments to maximize the efficiency of the room.  Ensure any patient special needs are noted in the computer system.
  • Coordinate and confirm accurate orders, authorization and insurance eligibility for imaging procedures as needed.
  • Contact referring physician offices for information and documents pertinent to the scheduled procedure.
  • Utilize online and computerized fax order system to organize patient referrals.
