Dr. Pinnell joined North County Radiology Medical Group in 2006 and continues with San Diego Imaging Medical Group following their merger in 2013.  He is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology.  Dr. Pinnell completed his BS degree at University of San Diego and his MD at Medical College of Wisconsin. After medical school, he returned to University of California San Diego for Surgical, Radiology Research, and Diagnostic Radiology Internships and MRI Fellowship.  Dr. Pinnell was honored as a NCAA Scholar Athlete and was a BECA Medical Scholarship recipient.  He has contributed to several research publications in the areas of ultrasound liver tumor characterization, ultrasound carotid angiography, ultrasound TIPS venography, ultrasound microbubbles, and nanoparticles.  His areas of interest include body imaging, cardiovascular imaging, musculoskeletal MRI, and PET/CT.
