As a complement to mammography, breast ultrasound may be used to further evaluate a possible lump, mass or questionable area to determine if it there is a solid or a fluid-filled cyst.
During the exam, a technologist will move a hand-held transducer across the skin and capture certain images as they appear on a monitor that will aid one of our Radiologists in making a diagnosis.
